Injuries can be physical and/or mental, and the severity can be anywhere from serious to life changing. All hope to quickly recover and rejoin their units. Others have more serious challenges to overcome.
In many cases the Marine and Navy Corpsman and their families must make the transition into civilian life and the enormous adjustments that will require. Some may never walk again. Others may be adjusting to prosthetic limbs, visual, hearing or other impairments.
While the military is well equipped to treat and rehabilitate their Marines and Navy Corpsmen, our Sunrise Rotary Club has been addressing the needs that are not normally covered by other organizations or have been hampered by shrinking DOD budgets in what is now our Nation’s longest war.
The Wounded Warriors we are assisting are headquartered at Camp Pendleton. Today there are roughly 420 active-duty Marines and Navy Corpsmen in the Battalion. The Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary Club has focused its efforts on supporting the spouses and children of these Marines and Navy Corpsmen.
